Relik: DJ of the past?

RelikRelik is an old school jungle/indie ragga DJ hailing from Northeastern Pennsylvania. He started his electronic music career by getting into production in the late 90s, however no serious tunes ever came out of it. He has been a follower of the jungle/dnb scene since then and has supported numerous parties throughout the years in the Mid-Atlantic region. When the party scene died down a bit, he picked up his first decks in 2003 and started collecting a massive arsenal of vinyl.

Today Relik is known mainly for playing old school jungle classics and obscure hard to find plates alongside newer indie ragga bangers, as well as his own original jungle tracks which continue to represent the old school sound by mashing up classic breaks and utilizing heavy kick bass rhythms. He is a member of PMF (People Moving Forward) and has been a resident at numerous weekly/monthly events in the NEPA area.

After the cancellation of a 3 year running jungle/dnb weekly, Relik decided to put DJing on hold and focus more time on production. Since February 2007, he has been producing dubstep and jungle tracks. The majority of his dubstep tracks are given to and rinsed out by other PMF members at events they play. Relik’s sound has been spread throughout the area and also featured on various online radio shows such as Dubstep.FM and Streamizm.

In the past year Relik has amassed over 40 original tunes. In February 2008, he released a limited, independent CD entitled Musical Relapse, featuring 80 minutes of his original dubstep material. He is not stopping there and plans to release another CD showcasing his jungle tracks this Summer 2008. Relik is also the founder of PMF Radio, which is an online radio station featuring various live recordings and mixes of PMF members and friends.
